FIRE FIGHTER I - PRO BOARD (HYBRID)

CONTENT: This NEW program will consist of online lectures, videos, assignments and on-site practical evolutions to meet the competencies for certification in the State of New Jersey and Pro Board Certification. This course will meet the N.F.P.A. 1001 standard for level I certification. This course is designed to instruct the students on the subjects / modules required for Fire Fighter I certification. Attending students will be required to pass a Pro-Board written examination, and tested on all practical skills to receive their accreditation.

REQUIREMENT(S): Students will need to bring their own lunch, (2) accountability tags, approved PPE & SCBA w/ spare cylinder each day.
PRE-REQUISITE: MUST be 18yrs of age; CPR Certified; AND provide a physical form by an approved healthcare provider.

HOSE, NOZZLES, APPLIANCES & UNDERSTANDING FLOW (Dobleman)

CONTENT: This course has been developed to provide the new (or) seasoned pump operator with a refresher on the knowledge and skills to complete the varied tasks necessary on an emergency scene. Modules will review the different types of hose, nozzles and appliances that are used currently in the fire service. Students will learn the different pressures, equipment use and the comparisons associated with each type of equipment. Students will learn about flow meters and the newer technology available on how to test the pressure of pre-connect lines of various sizes.The class will continue with a field exercise utilizing the principles reviewed in the classroom.

CONTENT: A large area search is a search where a team is entering a fire building to do a primary or secondary search under arduous conditions because of a known life hazard. This type of search is used in a building that does not require a wide-open-area search or a patterned search. Instead, this type of search uses the rope to secure and control an exit point from the fire area. Building types include office buildings, apartment houses with long hallways or stores with aisles that have stock and merchandise in place. This class will teach and demonstrate different ways on how to effectively accomplish a large area search task.

REQUIREMENT(S): Full PPE, SCBA and Spare cylinder are required.

ROPE RESCUE AWARENESS & OPERATIONS (Tharp)

CONTENT: The Awareness portion of this program is designed as the first phase and Prerequisite for the Camden County College’s RETC Rope Rescue Training Series. This series covers Awareness, Operations, and Technician Level programs along with Technical Skills enhancement classes. The objective is to provide the students with an Awareness training levels for the Rope Rescue environment, as per NFPA and Rope Rescue Industry Standards. The Operations portion of this program, formally taught as Rope I&II, is designed as the second phase of the Camden County College’s RETC Rope Rescue Training Series. This section, of the series, covers the hands-on operations of basic and intermediate rope rescue skills. The Operations program covers the requirements of NFPA along with current Rope Rescue Industry Standards and was previously offered as two separate sections; Rope 1 and Rope 2.
