The Camden County College Regional Emergency Training Center (RETC) is a state-of-the-art facility that offers classroom and hands-on instruction in the most extensive and contemporary array of credit and certification courses available to police, firefighters, emergency medical technicians and other first responders. The site houses both the Camden County College Fire Academy and Camden County College Police Academy.
Academic programs offered at the RETC include those leading to career certificates in fire suppression or fire administration and associate in applied science degrees in fire science technology or fire science technology administration. There also is the opportunity – through agreements maintained with the University of Maryland’s University College, Holy Family University, New Jersey City University and Thomas Edison State College – to transfer for baccalaureate studies in fire science. Also at the RETC, the College offers basic police training certified by the New Jersey Police Training Commission and mandatory and supplementary training for firefighters, EMTs and other public safety personnel.
The RETC’s environmentally safe features include a burn building, a smoke house, a self-contained breathing apparatus maze, confined-space simulators and various props. Other amenities, many of which may be rented by private- and public-sector organizations for their own conference and training needs, include classroom space, meeting rooms, a 160-seat auditorium, a lobby art gallery and a lounge. Capabilities include computing, remote learning and Wi-Fi as well as catering services.
The RETC is located at Lakeland, 420 Woodbury-Turnersville Road, Gloucester Township – just a few minutes from the College’s main campus in Blackwood. For additional information, call (856) 374-4911.
