Dickens' 'Great Expectations' Coming to Camden County College Stage
Stages at Camden County College will present “Great Expectations” as its last show of 2013.
Based on the novel by Charles Dickens and adapted for the stage by playwright Neil Bartlett, the production uses only eight actors and the words of Dickens’ story to create a powerful theatrical experience. The inventive and atmospheric adaptation brings to life a classic exploration of childhood hopes and terrors and adult dreams and disappointments.
Performances of “Great Expectations” will be given at 8 p.m. Dec. 6, 7, 12, 13 and 14 and 3 p.m. Dec. 8 in The Little Theatre. The venue is located inside Lincoln Hall on the College’s Blackwood Campus at College Drive and Peter Cheeseman Road in Gloucester Township. Parking is free.
“Great Expectations” is directed by Professor Marjorie Sokoloff of Pitman. Scenic design is by Don Swenson of Pitman with lighting by John Curall of Philadelphia and costumes by Melissa Rittman of Sicklerville. Stage manager is Melissa Givens of Chesilhurst.
Starring in the production is Geoff Bruen of Philadelphia as “Pip,” Melissa Connell of Cherry Hill as “Miss Havisham” and Caitlin Howarth of Pine Hill as “Estella.” Completing the cast are Tim Rinehart of Cherry Hill, Alexandra Ford of Runnemede, Ian Taylor of Turnersville, Andy Wertner of Boothwyn, Pa., Dana Lee Capanna of Glassboro, Julian Class of Blackwood, Kat Koch of Clementon, Amanda Potter of Pennsauken and A.J. Maiatico of Somerdale.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children, senior citizens and CCC students, faculty and staff with identification. A special rate of $8 is available for individual members of groups of 20 or more.
