Author Leading 'Polar Bear Picnic' for Kids at CCC Library Saturday

Local physician, wildlife photographer and children’s author Daniel A. D’Auria will help turn the Blackwood Campus Library of Camden County College into a kid-friendly zone when he leads “Polar Bear Picnic” from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday. Admission is free and open to the public.

Children and parents from throughout the area will learn about polar bears and other animals from around the world as D’Auria shares the adventures he’s had and the images he’s taken. He has photographed animals from his trips to Canada, Tanzania and many lands in between.

D’Auria is the author of I Wish I Had a Polar Bear, a whimsical tale illustrated with photos he took in Churchill, Manitoba, as well as Are You a Fish? An Osprey Tale, Beach Bears, It’s Snowing Geese, Moose Can Fly!, Polar Bears Aren’t White, You Know and Polar Bear Dreams. Details about his books are available at, and his photos may be viewed at

“Polar Bear Picnic” is recommended for children aged 4 to 10. Attendees are invited to bring a blanket and a favorite stuffed animal. A snack will be provided, and each child will have the opportunity to make a craft.

The Blackwood Campus is located at College Drive and Peter Cheeseman Road in Gloucester Township. Directions and a map of the campus are available online by visiting the Camden County College website at, scrolling down to the “Our Locations” area and clicking on the appropriate links.
