CCC Literary Club to Hold 'Poetic Idol' Recitation Contest Dec. 13

Literary-minded members of the Camden County College community will face off line to line, verse to verse and paragraph to paragraph when CCC’s Dead Poets Society conducts its “Poetic Idol” recitation contest on Dec. 13.

College students, faculty and staff will voice works of poetry and short fiction in competition for bragging rights and Barnes & Noble gift cards. Judging the event will be a trio of CCC faculty members: English Professor Keith O’Shaughnessy, who is the Dead Poets Society’s advisor; speech/theatre Professor Allison Green, who directs the College’s Readers’ Theatre Project; and philosophy instructor Sean Landis.

“Poetic Idol” will take place in the auditorium of the Gabriel E. Danch CIM Center, which is on CCC’s Blackwood Campus. The campus is located at College Drive and Peter Cheeseman Road in Gloucester Township.

Competitor sign-up and refreshments will be available starting at 6:30 p.m. Reading will begin at 7 p.m.

Admission is free, and the event is open to the public.
