Artwork by 17 Alumni Showing in CCC's Marlin Gallery
Camden County College’s Marlin Gallery is presenting the art of 17 former CCC students in “Alumni Exhibition,” which runs from Sept. 13 through Oct. 4.
This show came about thanks to cooperation between the Marlin Gallery, the Art Department and the CCC Office of Foundation and Alumni Relations, all of which reached out to graduates and invited them to submit portfolios for consideration. A jury of local artists reviewed the submissions and selected the exhibitors.
Featured in the show are pieces by Dahyne Chang of Bala Cynwood, Pa.; Carmen Console of Voorhees; Kim DiLoreto of Medford Lakes; David Graeber of Collingswood; Ernest Goldberg of Voorhees; Lauren Hill of Sicklerville; Wilhemina Jaffee of Moorestown; Melissa Quinter of Pennsauken; Joseph Remakis of Sicklerville; Adan Renaud of Mount Laurel; Phil Rychert of Pennsauken; Jackie Sandro of Millville; David Sipple of Pine Hill; Tracy Steel of Cherry Hill; Laura Storck of Haddon Heights; Tracy Beden-Tambussi of Cherry Hill; and Jim Tigar of Bellmawr.
According to gallery director Therese Marlin, the artists include graduates from the beginning years of the Art Department in the 1970s as well as those who graduated just a few years ago in the 2000s.
“Some alumni are art teachers, others work in art-related fields, and a few create art only as a hobby,” Marlin said. “Nevertheless, all continue to express themselves in ways that communicate their ideas and talents for all to admire and to enjoy.”
Mixed in addition to the graduating classes are the show’s media. For example, Graeber – an earlier graduate – is showing his all-glass paperweights while Melissa Quinter – a more recent graduate – is featuring her work of quilted fabric.
"Alumni Exhibition” will run through Oct. 4. Admission is free and open to the public.
The Marlin Gallery is located inside Lincoln Hall on the College’s Blackwood Campus, which is at College Drive and Peter Cheeseman Road in Gloucester Township. Hours are 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, with additional viewing hours available by contacting Marlin at (856) 227-7200, ext. 4201, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
